The state of Texas, famous as the “Lone Star State”, has a lot of history and structural design to focus on. But another fascinating fact is that it is the second most popular U.S state on the roads. This translate into the fact that almost $21 billion is lost each year on accidents with close to 4,000 fatality rate. It is almost like an Oscar candidate for car accidents.
I was alone on my way back home, when I found myself lying out cold on the road. I figured that a truck hit me suddenly. The truck driver ran away right after it. And If It wasn’t for a polite and honest stranger (that he was); I would be lying there till help arrives. He called 911 and went over my phone contacts to notify my brother. It was a dreadful event for my family when they found out.
Despite that I lived and moved on. However, for them of you who face such difficult experiences, remember to never lose hope. As they say, “There is sun at the end of every tunnel – keep moving!”
What To Do After an Accident
If you get hit by a car, or a truck (as my case), then don’t freeze in fear. Instead, call 911 and get yourself to a clinic. If you are hurt seriously that you can’t be able to go on your own, then call 911 and wait for the emergency team.
Shortly after that, call a car accident lawyer and make the guilty part pay.
A lawyer will:
- Report to authorities, and when they find the guilty party, he will,
- Collect the evidences, crash report and eye-witnesses. After that,
- File the official procedure to start the lawsuit. And,
- In the end get you a nice settlement offer for your claim.
Attorneys know how to win the battle in court of law. In my incident, he not only got me a good settlement plan from the insurance guys, but he also charged the driver with hit-and-run.
Ultimately, it’s better to be cautious than regretful, and you must take care of your well-being. But in case you undergo from such a disturbing event, be sure to remember that it never becomes easier and you just get healed over time. As judicious men say, “Disaster should be used as a foundation of strength”.
So, move on! And at all times think of this great quote while you do.
